How to Transfer Calendars and Reminders

Find where each item lives

A phone may show events from iCloud, Google, Microsoft Exchange, a work account and local “On My Phone” storage in one combined view. Hide calendars one by one to confirm the source.

Same account on the new phone

1. Make sure the old phone has completed sync.
2. Add the same account to the new phone.
3. Enable calendar and task/reminder sync for that account.
4. Wait for older events and recurring series to appear.
5. Check time zones, shared calendars and notification settings.

Changing ecosystem

Use account sync or the provider’s official export/import tools. Shared calendars may need to be reaccepted, while some platform-specific reminders, attachments or location triggers may not map cleanly to another service.

Verify dates that matter

• future appointments;
• recurring events;
• birthdays;
• shared family or work calendars;
• reminder lists and completed-item history;
• correct UK time zone and daylight-saving behaviour.

Prevent duplicate calendars and missed alerts

Before transfer, identify which account owns each calendar or reminder list. Adding the same account and importing an exported copy can create duplicates that are difficult to clean up.

• Check shared calendars, subscriptions, birthdays and work accounts separately.
• Verify time zone, recurring events and reminders with a specific time.
• Confirm that invitations still show the correct organiser and attendee account.
• Create a harmless future test event and reminder on the new phone.

Keep the old calendar available until several representative recurring events and notifications have appeared correctly on the new device.
