Use Privacy & Security
- Open Settings, then Privacy & Security.
- Choose a category such as Location Services, Photos, Contacts, Camera or Microphone.
- Review every listed app.
- Change access to the least permissive option that still allows the feature you need.
Check location carefully
- Prefer While Using where background access is unnecessary.
- Use Precise Location only when the feature needs it.
- Investigate apps that appear in unexpected location summaries.
Review after app changes
An app appears in a permission list only after requesting access. Recheck permissions after major updates, after installing a new app or when an app’s purpose changes.
Do not break safety features blindly
Revoking every permission can disable navigation, accessibility, emergency or communication functions. Make one change at a time and verify the result.
Review by risk, not by app popularity
A familiar app can still hold unnecessary access after its purpose changes. Prioritise background location, full photo-library access, contacts, microphone, camera, Bluetooth and local-network permissions.
Match each permission to a feature you use
Do not grant access simply because an app asks. A permission should have a current, understandable purpose.
- Review Location Services, Photos, Contacts, Bluetooth, microphone and camera separately.
- Use limited photo access when the app needs only selected images.
- After revoking access, test the exact feature and restore only the minimum needed.
