If an eSIM line appears to vanish after a system update, first establish whether the profile has actually been deleted. It may be disabled, hidden under another label, waiting for a provider-settings update or affected by an account-side provisioning problem.

Do not erase or reinstall immediately

Keep Wi-Fi available, do not factory-reset the phone and do not scan an old QR code unless the provider confirms it can be reused. If another SIM still works, leave it enabled as a fallback.

Check whether the profile is still present

iPhone

Open Settings and check Mobile Service or Cellular for the line. Then open General > About and review the eSIM and network-provider sections. If a provider-settings update is offered, read and install it.

Google Pixel

Open Settings > Network & internet > SIMs and look for a downloaded line that is switched off. Menu wording can change by Android version.

Samsung Galaxy

Open Settings > Connections > SIM manager and check whether the eSIM remains listed but disabled.

Safe recovery sequence

  1. Record the software version and exact symptoms.
  2. Restart the phone once.
  3. Turn Flight mode on briefly, then off.
  4. Check for a second maintenance update.
  5. Check the provider account for the active line or pending activation.
  6. Contact the provider before adding or deleting a profile.

If the profile is listed but has no service

Enable the line, leave network selection automatic and check account status, outage and roaming. Ask the provider to verify that the correct EID and IMEI remain associated with the line.

If the profile is genuinely absent

The provider may need to issue a replacement eSIM or enable a supported transfer. An ordinary device backup may restore apps and settings but usually does not recreate a deleted mobile-service profile.

Protect access while the line is unavailable

  • Use saved authenticator or recovery codes.
  • Do not log out of banking, email or provider apps unnecessarily.
  • Keep the old phone or physical SIM available if it still works.
  • Use only verified provider support channels.

When to involve the manufacturer

Contact device support if the SIM settings page is missing, multiple eSIMs disappear after the update, the modem information is unavailable, or the provider confirms that the account and profile assignment are correct.

A practical decision checkpoint

First distinguish a hidden or disabled line from a deleted profile. Check the SIM manager, provider account, current software and any carrier update before attempting reinstallation. If the profile is genuinely absent, request the provider's official replacement route and preserve the EID/IMEI and exact update history for support.

  • Do not repeatedly scan an old QR code.
  • Do not delete other working profiles.
  • Verify the restored line before changing 2FA or erasing another device.

Official information checked

Information checked on 25 July 2026. A profile that is absent from the interface may require provider or manufacturer diagnosis; do not assume it has been permanently erased.
