Use the official transfer during setup
Apple Move to iOS and Google Android Switch can move many categories, but availability depends on the source phone, destination, software and connection method. Cross-platform WhatsApp and eSIM transfers have their own supported conditions.
Do not wipe the old phone yet
Keep both phones, chargers and account recovery available until calls, SMS, mobile data, photos, messages, passwords, banking and 2FA work on the new device.
Create a sign-off checklist
- Mobile number and eSIM work.
- Primary email and password manager work.
- Authenticator and banking access work.
- Messages and representative media are present.
- Subscriptions, accessories and family controls are understood.
Sign off each category separately. “Transfer complete” on the setup screen only confirms that the automated process finished; it does not prove every service is usable.
