Update the iPhone, enable Wi‑Fi Calling for the correct line and verify it with an ordinary call before relying on it.
Before you begin
- Confirm that the network and plan support Wi‑Fi Calling on the exact iPhone.
- Install the latest suitable iOS and carrier-settings update.
- Connect to trusted, stable Wi‑Fi.
- On Dual SIM, identify which line you are configuring.
Enable the feature
- Open Settings.
- Open Apps, then Phone, and choose Wi‑Fi Calling. On some versions the route may appear under Mobile Service or the selected line.
- Turn on Wi‑Fi Calling on This iPhone.
- Review any emergency-location or network terms shown by the operator.
- Repeat for the second line only if that network and plan support it.
Verify the result
Move to a part of the building with weak mobile reception while remaining on good Wi‑Fi. Make an ordinary call and ask the other person to call back. Check that the operator’s Wi‑Fi indicator appears and that speech remains stable.
If activation fails
Restart the iPhone, reconnect to Wi‑Fi, check for carrier updates and ask the operator to confirm account provisioning. A missing or rejected switch is not fixed by erasing the phone.
Check other Apple devices separately
Apple can allow supported calls on an iPad, Mac or Apple Watch, but this requires additional settings and network support. Do not enable extra-device calling merely because Wi‑Fi Calling works on the iPhone; review which devices are signed into the Apple Account and remove any you no longer control.
For two SIMs
Configure and test each line separately. The line selected for mobile data is not automatically the line used for every call, and one operator may support Wi‑Fi Calling while the other does not. Give the plans clear labels and check the line shown before an outgoing call, especially when one number is personal and the other is used for work.
The point to verify before relying on it
After enabling the feature for the intended line, wait for the operator indicator and test with weak mobile signal but stable Wi‑Fi. On a Dual-SIM iPhone, repeat for each line. Review any emergency-address prompt carefully and do not use an emergency number as the test.
- Make an ordinary incoming and outgoing call.
- Restart the iPhone and confirm the feature returns.
- Test the Wi‑Fi network that will actually be relied upon.
